— The Count And The Walk, Before The Signature
Three parts, in order: name the debt, count the guarantee, walk the gates. The sheet prints only when the count stands and every gate is counted — a signature this size should never ride on a monthly payment alone.
1 · Whose debt this is
2 · The count — what your name guarantees
Off the loan paper itself: the amount, the rate, the term. The payment is figured the way a statement runs — payment rounded to the cent, every payment counted.
3 · The walk — six gates, counted honestly
Mark each gate only when it is true. "Not yet" is an honest answer — and the sheet waits for it. The walk is the point: a gate you have not counted is a gate the signature skips.
Gate 1. I know whose debt this is, and what it buys.
Gate 2. I have seen the loan paper itself — the amount, the rate, the term, the payment.
Gate 3. I have counted the whole guarantee — every payment, not just the monthly one.
Gate 4. This payment could land on me, every month, and my own house still stands.
Gate 5. I know this loan can stand on my own credit report, and count against my own borrowing.
Gate 6. I know a co-signer's name usually comes off only when the loan is paid off, or refinanced without it — not by asking.
Name the borrower and count the loan — the sheet prints when the count stands and all six gates are counted.
